Peer-to-Peer Campaign: Orangetheory Fitness West Virginia Fundraiser

Money Raised: $19,244.05  Campaign Goal: $23,000.00

Comfort Cases is a non-profit that provides comfort and personal care items to children in foster care. Often children are handed a trash bag to carry their belongings as they begin their journey into the foster care system. Many children actually enter care with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Comfort Cases are backpacks filled with new pajamas, socks, a blanket, stuffed animal, a book, activity, dental kit, and hygiene kit, to provide children with a sense of dignity and hope.

In West Virginia, there are close to 7,000 youth currently in foster care (DHHR Legislative Report, August 2019). The number of youth in foster care continues to rise year after year with West Virginia having one of the highest rates of youth in foster care in our country.

This is very close to our hearts and is an important need in our world. One that brings a smile to a child’s face and makes a meaningful difference providing hope and love to their life. Letting them know they are not overlooked, or less important. They are valued and they matter.

We are grateful for the community effort to get behind this and make a positive impact together.
